For Families

The Center provides a variety of supports and services for children of all ages. The individuals involved in the children's groups will learn valuable information to use in their every day lives. Parents and other family members or friends are also welcome to come to the center to obtain some education about their experiences and to learn from other individuals who may be having a similar life experience.



Skills Achievement Groups 



Building Blocks 
A therapeutic environment for children with an FASD (5-12) to develop skills that aid functioning in all developmental domains.

I Can Do It, Too! 
Interactive, hands-on, structured activities to help teenagers with an FASD (13-18) practice and master skills that lead to success.

Are We There Yet? 
Discussions and activities that offer a road map to success in daily living for the young adult with an FASD (19 and above).

Siblings Share and Learn 
A discussion group for siblings of persons with an FASD, offering opportunities for questions and involvement in the sibling’s development.

Is This a Bridge to Nowhere? 
A discussion group to help parents of a child with an FASD care more effectively for themselves and their child.

I Can Fix It Only If…. 
A discussion group for fathers of persons with an FASD, offering information and ways to address issues of daily living.



Educational Seminars for Parents


Decoding Some Challenging Behaviors in the Child with an FASD 

These seminars acquaint parents with the effects of alcohol on the developing brain, and describe both the primary and secondary behavioral characteristics. Facilitators develop a behavioral profile and decode behaviors to provide parents with the knowledge necessary to create an environment with appropriate accommodations for their son or daughter.
